The Weifang Kite museum. Weifang is the home of the international kite
festival. We enjoyed a marvelous morning
at the museum. Kites are a delightful
part of every visit to our own town square, understanding their history and
their importance to the Chinese people increases our enjoyment.
These are just a few examples of the
unique kites used to honor events in China.
This large dragon kite was a
favorite. Viewing such designs in the
air is awe inspiring.
Here we see more dragon kites. The tails are actually made of several
smaller kites. Who knew there was such
an art to kites!!
We have always enjoyed watching the
kites in our own Quancheng square.
Weifang also hosts the Vegetable
Festival. It sounded interesting so we
found a bus and headed out for an adventure.
Behold, another great afternoon discovering something new in China.
This display was made from small
gourds, seeds, and flowers.
Unbelievable!!
The octopus was one of my
favorites. It is made from thousands of
cayenne peppers. Notice the mountain of
ginger root.
More scenery with gourds and the
polar bears are made of rice.
Big boys and their toys! John Deere has found his way to China.
We marveled at the tomato plants
raised vertically. I now understand
hydroponic tomatoes.
These spiral pipes were gorgeous with
all varieties of lettuce.
I loved the arbors with squash,
pumpkins, cucumbers and peppers.
This creation was made from seeds and
beans. Sesame seeds never looked so
good.
